the amsterdam chainsaw massacre

A couple of days ago the cover of Dazed and Confused's February issue hit the internet showing model Magdalena Frackowiak wearing one of Viktor & Rolf's Spring/ Summer 2010 pieces. To be honest, I wasn't that big of a fan of the show when I first saw it, I tend to focus my love more on things you can actually wear, but after seeing this spread I've changed my mind. Though I'd still never wear these, I love the way that the photos are so simple because you don't need anything other than dress. The dress alone stands as a work of art, and if it did have more than a white background it would be too much. The spread is called "The Amsterdam Chainsaw Massacre," with photography by Josh Olins, and bears the tag line "In a season when fashion houses are playing it safe, maverick designers Viktor & Rolf took on the credit crunch with their thrillingly impractical mutilation of tulle." The images are beautiful, and I thought I'd share them with you guys, maybe not as a source to pick your next outfit from, but definitely a source of inspiration!

georgia frost for elle magazine

Georgia Frost is too too cute, and in this shoot for Elle Magazine she definitely brings her quirky charm. Not only do I love her, but I love the styling of the shoot as well. It shows us a lot of trends for this year, not to mention some of my favorite trends, such as sheer, thigh-highs, an velvet. I especially love the red Doc Martens and the way the red hat goes so perfectly with her short blond hair! I love it all! To see more images from the shoot, click here.

doll parts

Eight years ago, in the sixth grade, I first read Alice in Wonderland, and I fell in love. Sure I'd seen the Disney movie (which I think I enjoy more now then I actually did back then), but the imagery Lewis Carroll could create was just beautiful. And lately, it seems everyone loves Alice too. Of course there has been a lot of hype over Tim Burton's rendition on the classic tale, set to hit theaters on March 5th! And it's no wonder that as florals and pastels are taking over, L.A. Times named the "Alice in Wonderland" theme a trend for 2010. Anyway, seeing Natasha Poly's spread in the latest V magazine, I agree with Modelinia that she definitely took a trip down the rabbit hole. And she looks absolutely gorgeous doing it!

already famous

Happy New Year blogging world! Look for a January inspiration board very soon! In the meantime, I wanted to share with you all an editorial that I LOVED from the Jan 2010 US Vogue: Already Famous. It features one of my favorite models/ girl crushes, Sasha Pivovarova with a variety of "young rockers" all modeling Spring 2010's stand-out looks. The bands/artists featured are MGMT, Vampire Weekend, Beirut, The Horrors, Chester French, The Golden Silvers and Mika. Not only do I love the bands and Sasha, the looks featured are some of my favorites for spring! Here are my favorite pictures from it:

Bottega Veneta & Vampire Weekend

Lanvin & The Horrors' lead guitarist, Hayward

Yves Saint Laurent & MGMT

Louis Vuitton & Chester French

Givenchy & The Horrors' frontman, Badwan

Also, I was awarded the Haute Mess Award by Emily from Neutral Tuesday! I was so excited, it's my first award and I'm so thankful! Definitely check out her blog, it's very cute! I'm supposed to say seven things about myself so here they go:

#1. My first love before fashion was music. I sing, and I just love everything about it, it's hard to explain. I wish my life had background music like in movies.
#2. I love to read, my favorite book of all time is Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.
#3. I love decorating walls, I re-do my room every couple years. I love my room so much right now, I'll show you a picture when it's not extremely messy.
#4. I aspire to work as a fashion journalist, and work at a magazine.. maybe one day even Vogue!
#5. If I were to have dinner with three people, dead or alive, it would be George Harrison, Jim Morrison and Jack Kerouac.
#6. I'm a Harry Potter nerd.
#7. I'm so so so excited to start at FIT at the end of the month, living in the city has always been my dream.

I'm also supposed to pass the award to seven other blogs, this was very difficult I wish I could pick all of you! But I'm just going to pick people I want to hear more from!!
Taylor from thelittledeer., Mila from fashionrocks, Samantha from fazed-girl, style bird, R & A of raita2, phyllis of for a delicate few, bijou's style

Little Miss Precious

I recently picked up the August issue of Elle Magazine, although quite reluctantly since Miley Cyrus was the cover (sorry Q. I know you lover her) but I am so happy that I did. I've actually found that I really love Elle Magazine I think their fashion spreads are amazing, as you can see from the pictures above from the spread "Little Miss Precious." The model is Kemp Muhl and it was photgraphed by Ellen von Unwerth. I love everything about this spread. The girl, look, clothes, make up. I think the whole "girly girl gone bad" is just the perfect look for fall, so I of course had to share!

Perfection.

Dearest Bloggers,
I'm very sorry for the lack of updating! I've been very caught up with things lately, finals, vacations, unpacking, trying to find a job, etc etc. But enough excuses! I promise I will be much much better now :)
Well the other day while stuck at the airport because of weather delays I found a little magazine stand. While searching through spanish tabloids of telenovela stars I found some copies of the June issue of ELLE way in the back. Although hesitant to buy it because Megan Fox was on the cover and I dislike her, I was desperate for reading material so I got it. Needless to say, definitely worth it. At the very back of the issue there is the most excellent spread featuring Chloƫ Sevigny. I definitely have a girl crush on her, (who doesn't?) and this spread has amazing outfits in spring's "aggressive new bourgeois style," as ELLE puts it, and Chloƫ just looks perfect.

Visionary

I promise I'm still alive! I'm finally all settled in for summer so I promise that my posts will be more frequent now. I just want to share some images from the July 2009 issue of US Vogue. The spread is called "Visionary" and it's all about the studs, metal, and chains that are big for accessories right now, all modeled by the gorgeous Lily Donaldson and photographed by Terry Richardson.
