New York, New York F/W '11

It seems that New York fashion week has come and gone in a flash again! It was as exciting and as great as ever, and I liked that the public got to feel more connected to the shows through Tumblr and the 24 bloggers they sent to NYFW. I loved seeing all their pictures, and combined with twitter and live feed shows - I felt like I could really be at all my favorite shows! So before I get behind the pace and the rest of the fashion weeks finish before I can post I wanted to share my favorites from New York. I really couldn't narrow it down, so here's my top ten!

Proenza Schouler - No surprise here, I'm absolutely obsessed with everything the Proenza Schouler boys make. This collection, no words, just love!
Marc by Marc Jacobs - Love the color palette used here so much, and I love the animal prints - the leopard print and the deer motif prints!
3.1 Phillip Lim - another favorite designer of mine, love the pops of color here and the raglan sleeves are a great touch!
Rodarte - Rodarte is definitely becoming one of my favoites. While the pieces may not be as easily wearable as others, there's something about them that is so feminine meets tom-boy that I love.
Vena Cava - 90's? check. Black? Yes. Rose-tinted hues? YES. Three of my favorite things at the moment all together in one place!
Jill Stuart - This color palette is simply amazing - the navy, mustards and oranges are definitely something I can see myself wearing. And I can't help but absolutely love the fox and owl (hello, I love owls!!) prints.
Jenni Kayne - Jenni Kayne is a designer that I came to really love thanks to my internship at Glamour, her stuff is just so cute and wearable. I loved all the mini dresses in this collection and also the pops of bold hues.
Rebecca Minkoff - What I loved most about Rebecca Minkoff is the over-sized sweaters. Those are basically my staple item right now so I can't wait to keep wearing them next year! I also love the subtle colors mixed with neutrals, definitely every-day wearable.
Band of Outsiders - This collection speaks to the grunge-y side of me! The oversize sweaters, the neutral colors and long hemlines all look so good together.
Timo Weiland - Another designer that I learned through Glamour, I was excited to see what Timo Weiland would do for F/W. I love all the jackets and metallics!

I also wanted to share some of my favorite accessories from the above collections. I've really been a lot more into accessories than usually lately, so here are a few things that I'm dying over!

Oh Boy.

There's nothing like a cold windy day in February to make you wish for spring, and the new Boy. by Band of Outsiders lookbook is making me want spring so badly. Kirsten Dunst models for it, which I think is perfect because I've always had a girl crush on her and she definitely represents their American yet whimsical aesthetic (they've used her before too - for the Fall 2009 lookbook)! This time Kirsten frolics in fields of flowers and has tea-parties with stuffed animals at the Huntington Botanical Gardens in Pasadena, CA. The effect came out beautifully and I'm obsessed with these images. Which reminds me that once the weather gets warmer I really need to head over to the New York Botanical Garden and take pictures. It's silly that I haven't yet seeing as how my boyfriend goes to school across the street! Anyway, hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do!

Also, just for good measure, James Marsden is in the Spring Band of Outsiders lookbook and I just couldn't resist posting a few because they're also so good! These were taking at The Gaylord Apartments in Koreatown, Los Angeles.

Scholarly

So my classes started this week and I wanted to show you guys my **first day of classes*** outfit hahaha! But really, who can deny that every year, when its time to go back to school you spend a longer amount of time than you normally would carefully planning out that first day outfit. I almost feel like its similar to making new years resolutions: it's a new year, new semester and you want to try new things with your outfit choices. Now in college it kinda sucks that you have basically a whole week of the "first day" so you gotta think of like 5 different outfits! Anyway its like the north pole here in the city so its hard to dress cute when you have to trek through all this snow just to get to school. My mom actually convinced me to buy these boots from Aerosoles and I ended up loving them because they're simple and cute but they're also comfortable, pretty well resistant to water and have good traction. I've literally worn them all week because I've seen way to many people fall!!!

Scarf: NYC streets
Sweater: American Eagle
Dress (worn as skirt): Thrifted
Thigh-highs: Target
Boots: Aerosoles

Until next time,
