August Inspiration: The New Retro

So I do realize that it's almost the end of the month and I'm just now posting August Inspiration, but since this is a look that I feel will carry over into September, I'm going to say this is my end of summer beginning of fall inspiration and that's why it came so late! ;) Regardless, what I'm obsessing with right now is the look that all the magazines are calling the "New Retro," which is basically that lovely Fifties sophisticated and feminine feel with a modern twist. I definitely have always loved the fifties, in fact my kitchen decorations for college have been fifties inspired with cherry red accents and the cutest cherry print apron that my mom made for me based off of a vintage Vogue pattern! I even just got this cute retro clock to put up. I'm obsessed with the idea of this look in my wardrobe too, I just love the silhouttes and the fall tones that make it look so classically cool. Just think Louis Vuitton's Fall 2010 collection, dab on some red lipstick and you're set!

By the Seaside

Is it just me, or is it true that whenever you think you're about to have some free time is when it gets the busiest? Honestly, you think without classes and work and be having so much time but it seems like if it's not one thing than it's the other! I mean I can't really complain because one of those things is starting my wonderful fall internship early, but still! I miss you blogging world!

Anyway, here's one of those outfit posts I promised. Since I was staying right by the beach when I was on vacation, I was dressing a lot more laid back, most of the time I'd just spend most of the day in my bathing suit and a coverup! For a laid back look, I really am in love with high-waisted cutoff shorts! I think they're prefect because they go so well with almost anything! Like I can wear them with an old loose t-shirt or with a silky top and nicer shoes. I can even wear them all year round with tights! These that I'm wearing here I paired with a black braided belt, a cute top and a hat because my family was coming over for a barbeque. I love these shorts and I don't think I'll ever get tired of wearing them!

Pretty Baby

I'm baaaack! Hello all, I'm back from vacation in Puerto Rico - it was a lot of fun, we rented a small house right on the beach so the stay was a lot more laid back and relaxing than what I'm used to (we're usually running around town with family) and I really needed it. Also my cousin's wedding was a blast; the bridesmaid dress was not something I'd normally wear but not as bad as I thought it would be haha! I even had long hair for a day cause my hair wasn't long enough for the side pony she wanted - it was weird but also awesome to have long hair and if I had the money I'd get extensions!! Anyway, I'm still unpacking right now (my room is the biggest mess) and I haven't even uploaded pictures yet because as soon I got back I was busy on some interviews in the city for a fall internship (more on that later)! But I thought I'd share with you all this editorial I just found on Fashion Gone Rogue. It's from the new September issue of Vogue Australia, and it features model Catherine McNeil photographed by Max Doyle and styled by Naomi Smith. I love it, and its has a lot of the type of looks that I'm interested in for August (hinthinthint: inspiration post coming soon!). So enjoy "Pretty Baby!"
